"I was taught to paint at the age of two, painting was my first language. I attended magnet schools that focused on the Arts and I am all the better for it. I am a fierce advocate all the Arts; Music, Dance, Painting, Theater & Creative Writting. It is a known fact that the Arts improve creative problem solving skills, I believe these tools are necessary for the survival and evolution of the human race." Marta Gottfried Wiley

Federal: Urge Members of Congress to Support the NEA
Tell Them the Arts Mean Jobs!

The House of Representatives has taken up the FY 2012 Interior Appropriations Bill that contains a $20 million cut in funding to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). There are at least two amendments being considered that would decrease the NEA budget further. If these reductions are enacted, they would represent the deepest cut to the NEA in 16 years.  Send a message to your member of Congress to register your concerns about this cut today!

The NEA funds grants to dance, design, folk & traditional arts, literature, local arts agencies, media arts, multidisciplinary, museums, music, musical theater, opera, presenting, theater, and visual arts. Please take a few minutes to write to your Members of Congress to urge them to support the NEA in the FY 2012 Interior Appropriations bill to widen citizen access to the cultural, educational, and economic benefits of the arts, and to advance creativity and innovation in communities across the United States.
